Purcell's masterpiece transcribed for solo accordion. The deep bass notes in the left hand repeat the same falling ground bass line throughout, whilst in the right hand the plaintive melody is heard singing over the top of harmonising chords. The music is complete with Purcell's beautiful ten bars of falling chromatic melodies at the very end. |
